Primary Penile Tumor Diagnosis and Initial Management

The algorithm is broadly consistent with contemporary guidance favoring stage- and extent-adapted penile-preserving treatment when oncologically feasible. Its treatment branches closely reflect the 2024 ESMO-EURACAN primary-tumor algorithm, but the evidence is predominantly retrospective and expert-consensus based. Important omissions include explicit biopsy confirmation, margin and recurrence-surveillance principles, and concurrent risk-adapted inguinal nodal staging.

Current multidisciplinary guidance supports individualized management that balances complete tumor control against preservation of urinary, sexual, and cosmetic function. The 2026 update continues to emphasize nuanced organ-preserving strategies and centralized care.
